A blog about food. The home cooked food I make, eat, share and love. It's titled Sweet Tea in honor of my Hubby, known to all of y'all as Baby Cakes (who likes a bit of tea with his sugar), and Porch Swings for me (because a majority of my down time is spent reading and swinging on my porch swing). I hope you like what you find here but mostly I hope this blog inspires you to get cooking, or eating, to each his own, right?

"No one who cooks, cooks alone. Even at her most solitary, a cook in the kitchen is surrounded by generations of cooks past, the advice and menus of cooks present, the wisdom of cookbook writers." - Laurie Colwin
Sweet Citrus Chicken Bake
"Cooking is an art and patience a virtue... Careful shopping, fresh ingredients and an unhurried approach are nearly all you need. There is one more thing - love. Love for food and love for those you invite to your table. With a combination of these things you can be an artist - not perhaps in the representational style of a Dutch master, but rather more like Gauguin, the naïve, or Van Gogh, the impressionist. Plates or pictures of sunshine taste of happiness and love." - Keith Floyd, A Feast of Floyd

The discovery of a new dish does more for the happiness of mankind than the discovery of a star. -Anthelme Brillat-Savarin

I don't like gourmet cooking or "this" cooking or "that" cooking. I just like good cooking. -James Beard
Cinnamon Caramel Sauce
"The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything that they have. Live simply, love generously, care deeply and speak kindly."
Norton Nature's Seasons (No MSG)
This is the seasoning blend that I use, my parents used and thier parents used just incase you were wondering. So when I say seasoning blend of your choice, well, this is my choice. Infact, certain recipes, I find, only work with this seasoning.
Tone's Chicken Base
The best, hands down, chicken boullion base I have ever used. I will never go back to boullion cubes ever again! I can only find it at Sam's Warehouse. I use the beef too.
Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract
I always thought "yeah right" when someone on TV said make sure and use a really good extract but after buying some a few years ago I couln't imagine using anything less. This makes the dish. You can purchase this on King Arthur Flour.
